MSIS is excited to announce the beginning of the MiHarbor deployment across the Medical School!
MiHarbor is a complete end-to-end device management system, providing virus scanning, data and disk encryption, remote patching and data backup for Windows and Mac workstations. It has been developed in partnership with MCIT and it will give our customers options that address their specific research and academic needs.

MSIS is deploying MiHarbor across MSA throughout May 2014. Our focus is on replacing Windows XP users with the MedSchool Core Image. MedSchool Core is supported by the Solutions Center and is the first product to be made available within MiHarbor. It includes the use of Credent for disk encryption, MicroSoft Forefront for virus protection and Crashplan for backups. In addition users of the MedSchool Core can request and use any of the Medical School or U-M licensed applications, including the Adobe Suite. Upcoming MiHarbor products will include MacLite and a Minimum Security version for both PCs and Macs that offers basic disk encryption and antivirus protection.

A lot of work has been done across MSIS and MCIT to make this possible, but as these rollouts begin we’d like to specifically recognize the work of Andre Latzman (MiHarbor Product Manager) and Sue Boucher (Project Manager) for their herculean efforts to make this a reality.  Please be sure to take a moment to congratulate them on this accomplishment next time you're in NCRC B200.
